Big Savings for the Big Apple
In fall 2011, the City of New York entered into a partnership with Essensa, its group purchasing organization (GPO) of choice. As designated GPO, Essensa offers the city’s community-based organizations (CBOs) discounted pricing on contracted goods and services. That means that CBOs can stretch their budgets while increasing procurement efficiencies simply by taking advantage of Essensa’s substantial discounts on the products and services used in daily business operations.
The Essensa advantage includes a portfolio of discounts on thousands of widely used name-brand products and services, knowledgeable staff, advanced reporting capabilities, and a customized analysis to identify more efficient buying patterns.

How it Works
Since Essensa has thousands of members, we combine total volume (the sum total of members orders on contracted products) to negotiate lower prices.
Essensa prides itself on offering a “total value proposition.” That means we are determined to grow our contract portfolio to include all of the products and services our members need to run their businesses—from computers, copiers, and printers to foodservice items, from building maintenance, janitorial supplies, and paper products to specialty items like medical supplies. Your Essensa representative can help you navigate our portfolio to best meet your specific business needs.
